DU First day: On the August 16, University of Delhi begins the new academic session for undergraduate students. A total of 64,288 students have been admitted to the multiple programs at Delhi University.
Vice Chancellor, Yogesh Singh expressed his best wishes to the newcomers. Besides, he also revealed that 64,288 students confirmed their enrollment by August 15 for this new academic year (2023-24) in the second round of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS).
In reaction to the ragging matter, Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh stated that DU is a ragging-free university. Senior students should treat newcomers with love and a lot of respect as their younger siblings to prevent any undesirable incidents with any of them.

VC Singh also announced that female students have achieved more than half of the admissions. In this current academic year, 53 percent of female applicants were accepted, compared to 47 percent of male applicants.
Haneet Gandhi, dean of admissions, offered insights into students’ preferences for colleges during both rounds. During the first round, these colleges were included in the top five choice: Hansraj College, Gargi College, Dyal Singh College, Ramjas College, and Kirori Mal College.
According to the dean, Deshbandhu College, Swami Shraddhanand College, and Zakir Hussain College had the most admissions in the second round.

Further, Gandhi stated that 29,217 students opted to upgrade while 30,627 students decided to freeze their admissions. Moreover, 5,560 students got their second choice and around 8,010 students received their first preference.
