This course has been organized by IIT Kharagpur while keeping in mind the value of Cloud Computing to all. Cloud computing is a scalable services consumption and delivery platform that provides on-demand computing services for a shared pool of resources, namely, storage, servers, software, networking, database, applications, etc. over the Internet. It is a model that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort for enabling ubiquitous, on-demand access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources.

This course will introduce aspects of cloud computing, including management issues, fundamentals, future research trends, and security challenges, according to IIT Kharagpur. Both UG and PG students as well as researchers will be helped by this to use and explore the cloud computing platforms.

ENROLLMENT AT IIT KHARAGPUR

Anyone can enroll in this course, but this course is an undergraduate computer science level course for ME/BE/MSc/MS/Ph.D. students. You should have some exposure to the Basics of Computer Architecture and Organization, networking- it’s the only prerequisite.

TIMELINE

A course has a timeline of 12 weeks. The course will start on 18 January 2021 and will end on 09 April 2021. 25 December 2020 is the last date to enroll.

TEACHERS OF THIS COURSE AT IIT KHARAGPUR

From the Department of Computer Sciences and Engineering, IIIT Kharagpur, India, Prof. Soumya K. Ghosh has received his Ph.D. and M. tech degrees. He is a professor with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kharagpur presently. He worked for the Indian Space Research Organization in the area of geographic information systems and satellite remote sensing before joining IIT-K. He has more than 200 research papers in conference proceedings and reputed journals. His research interests include spatial web services, spatial data science, and cloud computing.
