Alcohol in Delhi Metro

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has confirmed that now a passenger can carry alcohol in Delhi Metro. However, the limit is 2 liquor-sealed bottles per passenger. DMRC has confirmed it by replying on Twitter, “Yes two sealed bottles of alcohol are allowed inside the Delhi Metro.”

Earlier, carrying alcohol inside the metro premises was banned except on the Airport Express Line. Though, a committee of officials of CISF and DMRC sat and revised the list. Now, permission has been given to passengers to carry 2 sealed alcohol bottles on all lines.

A Twitter user asked the DMRC officials whether he can carry alcohol on the Blue Line of Metro which connects Dwarka Sector 21 and Noida Electronic City. Consequently, the DMRC replied and said that yes two sealed liquor bottles can be carried inside any line of the metro.

Drinking alcohol in Delhi metro premises Prohibited 

DMRC clearly stated the difference between carrying alcohol and drinking alcohol inside metro premises. Passengers are not allowed to drink alcohol in Delhi Metro. 

Further, DMRC urged passengers to maintain proper decorum in metro premises during travelling. It added, “If any passenger is found behaving indecently under drunken conditions. Then, strict actions under the relevant provisions of the law will be taken.”
