JNUEE 2021

Jawaharlal Nehru University has issued a press note regarding Afghan students of the university who have pleaded the varsity to facilitate their return to the campus.

JNU has made it clear that since the university was closed as per orders from the Delhi government, the request was being looked into.

Students afraid of returning to Afghanistan

The current crisis brewing in Afghanistan with the Taliban gaining increasing ground is making Afghan students who have almost completed their courses here afraid of returning to their country.

Currently, 12-13 Afghan students are studying at JNU. Of them, three secured admissions last year but are unable to attend campus classes as they couldn’t avail visas. Some are waiting for a visa extension as their courses are coming to a close.

JNUSU writes to VC

The JNU Students’ Union (JNUSU) said that they would take up this issue with the JNU administration and the concerned ministries to help the Afghan students.

They have already written to the JNU VC regarding providing them with visa permission and hostel accommodation urgently.
