The Covid-19 surge is rising off the charts all over again. As a result, several states and union territories have already announced to close the educational institutions. However, some are yet mulling over the closure of educational institutions in April.
It was until recently that schools and colleges had reopened. Hence, after being shut for around 8-9 months, educational institutions had reopened in February. Most states had resumed classes for 10th and 12th Board students and even further higher-ups. Some of the states and Union territories had even reopened schools for the primary section with a full-fledged reopening. However, with this new covid-19 surge, state governments are left with no option. Hence, they are reconsidering their decisions and some have even shut down the schools again.

Here is the list of states considering to shut down after covid-19 surge:
Gujrat, Punjab, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, and Rajasthan governments are the ones on the list.
Gujrat government has planned to close educational institutions and physical classes till 10th April 2021. It has decided to suspend physical classes in eight municipal areas. Hence, these eight municipal corporations include Ahmedabad, Surat, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Rajkot, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, and Bhavnagar. The state government had reopened its educational institutions in January for classes 10th and 12th and in February for classes 9th and 11th.
The Punjab government has also ordered the shutdown of educational institutions till 31st March. Hence, the statement was given on Friday by Amarinder Singh, the Chief Minister of Punjab.
The Union Territory of Puducherry has been instructed to close schools for classes 1 to 8th from 22nd March to 31st May. Tamil Nadu government has also ordered the same for classes 9th, 10th, and 11th.

The Telangana government is still mulling over the shutdown and will decide after a complete analysis of the covid-19 surge. Meanwhile, Karnataka has planned to start its new academic year on July 15. Hence, they will keep classes suspended until then.
