Music is a very beautiful emotion which is felt by everyone in their life. A different kind of chemistry in the notes and tunings is loved by all. Some songs are loved because of the deep meaning in the lyrical portion while some relate it to their lives, some put the everlasting effect into the mind and heart, while some are just stressbusters. Music plays a different kind of role in everyone’s life.

It is not of just a single type. Some are smooth songs while some are party packers. Some make love more beautiful while some help to deal with heartbreaks. Some purely serve the nation while some express our love for friends and family. Music has many versions in itself. World Music Day is celebrated on 21 June.

WHAT IS WORLD MUSIC DAY?

It is an annual music celebration day in which everybody in a city or a country is allowed to play music in public places or anywhere they wish to. Free concerts are also organized. Some musicians play without any payment. The first music day was celebrated by the Minister of Culture of France and in Paris in 1982. Soon it was celebrated in 120 more countries.

WHAT IS THE HISTORY BEHIND WORLD MUSIC DAY?

The director of the Ministry of France observed in 1982 during his study on the cultural habits of the French that out of five million people, one person played a musical instrument. He began to find a way that people can come on the street and it was the first place in Paris celebrating Fête de la Musique. It is also known as World Music Day. Soon it was celebrated in 120 countries including India. Although World Music Day was originated in France in 1982, it is now celebrated in more than 700 cities. All the concerts held are free and people can access it.

This year, the event categories for World Music Day are Education Awareness, Family Awareness, International Awareness, and June. As the prevailing conditions do not allow a person for any concert and it is not possible to have a platform concert this year, people will enjoy Sufi and Jass music at-home online series.

THREE SECTIONS OF ONLINE SERIES

This year, the at-home online series will be divided into three parts. Firstly, there would be an interesting conversation with Stephen Daldry who is the storyteller and director of some acclaimed works like ‘The Crown’, ‘Billy Elliot’, and many more that are nominated for various awards. He will tell his story of shifting from the stage and musical to television to films. Then, there will be a range of Jazz musicians.

performing the hits from ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, ‘ The Sound of Music’, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, and many more. His composition of songs with beautiful lyrics will soothe everyone’s mind and fill their hearts full of love.
