Students from outside Delhi, who are enrolled in the new academic session 2020-21 of university of Delhi, are worried about hostels. students are constantly asking the University of Delhi whether they will be able to get hostel installations after admission. The University of Delhi has not yet decided on a clear policy regarding hostels due to Corona. It is not yet decided whether the colleges will open after admission to Delhi University.

If the DU colleges open after admission for the first year, then the cycle of taking hostels will also put up with a lot of time.

The DTA has conveyed concern over Delhi University not clarifying hostel protocol. The Teachers’ Association has urged the university administration to allocate a circular shortly in this context to the colleges.

Professor Hansraj Suman, in-charge of Delhi Teachers Association, said, The hostel situation is not clear if the colleges have received admission forms or information from the students about giving hostels to the students who are taking admission in undergraduate courses.

In this context, the principals of the colleges were talked about, they said that due to Corona, the college has decided not to open hostels this time. At the same time, some colleges are waiting for the Directors of Delhi University to issue circulars to the colleges giving hostels.

Professor Suman said Delhi University is the largest central university which is counted among the premier institutions. Here a large number of students from other states and abroad of the country enroll. Outside the college where students take admission, they want safe and comfortable hostels.

Some colleges provide hostel facilities for their students. Hostel facilities are not available in all DU colleges. The hostels have limited seats in 20 colleges and are allotted solely based on the merit of the applicant.

Among the 20 colleges of Delhi University where hostel facilities are available, two colleges of North Campus are Hansraj College and Kirori Mal College.

Also, 12 colleges have hostel facilities for girl students. The remaining 6 are colleges where accommodation is available for both students and girls (male and female) in hostels.

Apart from the hostel facilities offered by the colleges, it provides hostel facilities to women undergraduate students at DU’s North Campus. It offers undergraduate hostels for girls and International Students’ House for Women (some seats for foreign undergraduates).
