The Deputy chief minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia announced on Sunday. He said that the Delhi Schools will remain closed till October 31, 2020. The order is for both public and private schools of the national capital.
The central government issued new guidelines for unlock 5 which allows the reopening of schools along with other relaxations from October 15th, 2020. However, the Delhi government made it clear that it will not allow the partial reopening of schools due to the increase in coronavirus cases.
The city administration released its initial order on the 18th of September, 2020. It commands the closure of schools in the national capital till October 5. Now, the fresh order extends the closure of schools.
Manish Sisodia said that the schools have been given directions to shut the school till October 13th. The previous order is extended in the national capital. He added that an official order will be circulated soon.
IS IT OBLIGATORY FOR SCHOOLS TO REOPEN FROM OCTOBER 15?
The national capital evaluated the spread of coronavirus to come upon a decision. It’s been observed that Delhi reported 3,037 cases on Thursday, on Friday it reported 2,920 cases and Saturday observed a total of 2,258 cases. In total Delhi witnessed a total of 2,87,930 cases and 5,472 mortalities.
Manish Sisodia tweeted in Hindi on Sunday that the schools are not allowed to operate till October 31st, 2020. He added that the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal understands the situation and emotions of a parent. He takes into consideration the seriousness of the prevailing condition. Allowing the schools to reopen will put the health of kids at risk. It is completely inappropriate to expose the students to such danger. Thus, keeping these things in mind, the decision is made.
On the 30th of September, the Central government issued detailed guidelines of Unlock 5. Under which the schools were allowed to reopen after almost 7 months from October 15th. Along with it, the cinema halls, entertainment parks will also reopen from the date with 50 % capacity. It has to be noted that the relaxations are allowed outside containment zones.
DECISION OF VARIOUS STATE GOVERNMENT TO REOPEN SCHOOLS
The order came as the central government moves to restart the businesses and activities in the country which were restricted due to the pandemic. The businesses incur a huge loss in the financial year. The fresh guidelines issue more relaxations.
