Delhi University is planning to revise the admission criteria into DU colleges. The varsity placed a proposal to the University Grants Commission.
It stated that DU colleges should now take admission through the combination of both entrance exam and class 12th Marks. This year, Delhi University would begin the Central University Common Entrance Test, CUCET.
In December 2020, the center set up a committee of seven members. They would recommend modalities for a high-quality aptitude test. So, the aptitude tests would be taken to grant admission into various undergraduate courses of central universities.
Moreover, the National Testing Agency would conduct a computer-based common entrance test and it would be compulsory for seeking admission into the central universities.
The Ministry of Education, MoE said that aspirants would have to appear for the Aptitude test. However, the test would include verbal ability, quantitative aptitude, and logical reasoning questions.
Moreover, to get admission into DU colleges, Delhi University aspirants have to appear for a subject-specific test. The acting pro-vice-chancellor of Delhi University said that students can be assured that their class 12th Marks would be taken into consideration. Moreover, the varsity would not compromise on merit.
The varsity would soon finalize CUCET and adopt it soon. However, the admission criteria would be different this year. Delhi University has already set up its admission committee.
Based on CUCET, they will sync the admission. Lastly, the acting pro-vice-chancellor PC Joshi said that they will finalize the weightage of class 12th Marks and CUCET result.
