Constituent colleges of Delhi University (DU) are touching the heights with their skyrocketing cutoffs by every passing year. This is known to all but beyond comprehension lies the quibbling fact that the first cutoff at Delhi University’s Lady Shri Ram College for DU admission 2020 has striked at 100% for three subjects – Political Science, Economics, and Psychology.

Students who first had to appear for class 12th board exams held their hearts in their hands before checking the board results, and now they have to go through another heart-pounding process till the DU admission process goes on.

Why are Delhi University’s Cutoffs sky-high?

A surge in the number of applications for DU admissions 2020 – This year over 3,53,918 students have applied for undergraduate courses at Delhi University while the last year over 2,58,000 students applied.

For the first time in the history, DU admissions portal was open for over 10 weeks from 20th June to 31st August, while usually, the window opens for four weeks. The online process of DU admission has allowed students from various boards to apply for DU admission 2020.

WHAT WILL BE THE DELHI UNIVERSITY ADMISSION PROCEDURE AFTER THE RELEASE OF CUTOFFS?

Since a lot of foreign institutes have decided to take classes online, several Indian students have decided to take admission abroad.

Delay in the commencement of NEET & JEE Main exams meant that a number of students could have registered for DU admission as a backup.

3.5 Lakh and above Applications for 70,000 seats for DU Admission 2020

As mentioned earlier, over 3,53,918 students have registered for DU admission 2020 this year, but the University offers only 70,000 seats. Which means, every five students will fight for one DU students.

This means over 2,83,918 students will not be able to make it to Delhi University.

High cutoffs go as high as 100% cutoff

Delhi University’s Lady Shri Ram College of Women has released the cutoffs with 100% cutoffs in three subjects. Also, over 5000 students who have registered for Delhi University admission 2020 have scored 100% marks in their class 12th exams.
