Delhi University is adamant to conduct the end-semester exams:

The varsity is receiving a lot of flak from the student population. Also, several stakeholders are trying to cancel exams in view of the current covid-19 crisis. However, students are yet to wait for any decisions to be taken from the administration.

Why don’t students want the end-semester exams?

A student from Lady Shri Ram College says that high-speed internet access is not available in every nook and corner. Last time, students had an option to appear for the exams in physical mode. But, this option is not available in OBE 2021. So, the lack of resources like mobile phones and internet facilities can pose major problems. In LSR, a college student did commit suicide due to the digital divide in 2020.

Students also highlighted the mental and physical stress occurring due to covid. The covid-19 crisis and the enormous infection rate have affected almost every household. Students and teachers have also lost their loved ones. Hence, maintaining their sanity and appearing for the DU OBE 2021 seems impossible.

Alternatives that can be used for the end-semester exams:

Teachers suggest that DU can evaluate the marks based on assignments and previous semester marks. Hence, the end-semester exams can be conducted without OBE in this way. However, even with a few days left for exams, students are still hopeful of the cancellation.
