WHAT IS THE INTER COLLEGE MIGRATION PROCESS AT DU?

Inter College Migration: Students are well acquainted with the rigorous DU admission process. Those high cutoff lists make it difficult for the student to get admission in college or the course of their choice. Not every college stands up to the expectations of students. Almost every student wants to be a part of those renowned campus colleges and then ‘Migration’ works as a back door for them. Though it is an unfair practice still most students rely on it as it gives students a second chance to study in college of their choice without wasting a year of studies.

Inter College Migration is a process whereby candidates can apply for admission to another college of DU in their second year. After following certain criteria and checking if vacant seats are available college accept applicants. It admission under migration is allowed based on marks, which implicitly says merit will be the basis on which admission will be given. Moreover, the percentage required for migration differs from college to college and from course to course.

Here is the guide on how you can migrate based on Rules given by DU on the website:

  1. Candidate can migrate from one college of DU to another in his/her third semester of B.Com., B.Com(H), B.Sc., B.A, B.A.(H), and B.Sc.(H) courses assessing the availability of seats and permission of principals of both the colleges.
  2. The eligibility criterion for the students needs them to have clear both 1st and 2nd-semester exams of the degree course under semester mode.
  3. The procedure to apply for migration contains contacting the office of the principal of the concerned college where he/she needs to migrate to obtain the no-objection certificate initially

DU APPROVED THE STRUCTURE OF THE FOUR YEAR PROGRAM

The documents required for Inter College Migration:

  • Students need to sign a No Objection Certificate from the principal/head of the College where he wants to migrate as well as where he/she is presently studying.
  • A leaving certificate from the head/principal of the respective college.
  • The mark sheets of the exam already passed.

Some certain terms and conditions are followed in the process of migration:

  1. Students are not allowed to migrate from regular college to Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB) or School of Open Learning (SOL) as migration is enabled in semester mode and the SOL and NCWEB are annual.
  2. Migration is not permitted from one college to another in a different course.
  3. Inter College Migration is not permitted at the PG level.

Migration is not easy. If you need to migrate from your college you expect to have a strong reason as it is noted in a requirement that migration is not a right, it is only a permissive structure and not a crucial one. It all confides upon both incoming and outgoing colleges interested; therefore, the agreement of reservation in migration for college & inter-university is not favorable.

MUSIC AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION ARE LIKELY TO BE NEW ADDED COURSES IN DU

As per some university officials and specialists, migration is an unfair standard to get acceptance to famed colleges. Lesser-known colleges ready candidates with good marks who later migrate to some further college of their choice. Sometimes even candidates face partiality.

Migration should not be used as an opportunity to get a chance to study in college of your choice but should be only considered when reason is genuine like difficulty in commuting from current college.
