Today, the UGC (University Grants Commission) informed the Supreme Court that it has allowed the universities to conduct special exams whenever feasible for those students who cannot appear for the term-end exams in September.
Earlier, the UGC in its guidelines had asked all the universities to hold term-end exams mandatorily by September-end. This move has been opposed by Delhi and Maharashtra. They have issued a directive that the universities which are being run by the state will not hold term-end exams.
The UGC told Supreme Court all the institutions and the universities are obligated to conduct a final year or terminal semester exam by the end of September 2020. The UGC also added that the special examination can be held whenever feasible for students.
