On behalf of the DEPwD (Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, applications have been invited by the University Grants Commission for NFPwD (the National Fellowship for Persons with Disabilities) for the session 2020-21. As the application procedure has reopened, candidates can now apply for the fellowship till 15 February 2021.
The total number of scholarships to be granted is for 200 candidates. Out of these 200, 15 percent and 7.5 percent are reserved for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Merit will be decided based on marks obtained by the candidates in their postgraduate exams and then the candidates will be selected based on that merit only. A list will be issued by the UGC after the selection procedure which will contain the names of candidates selected provisionally.
Then, only after the verification of the documents/ information and facts furnished by the candidates in their application, the candidates will be allowed to join the fellowship.
Payable for a maximum period of five months, the fellowship with Rs 31000/- month will be awarded as JRF fellows for two years and then for the next remaining period of three years Rs 35000/- month will be given.
As a contingency for the humanities, social science fields, the candidates will also be given Rs 10000 per annum for two years and Rs- 1200 for the science, engineering, and technology field.

In addition to the possible hike from Rs 20500 to 25000 for an SRF fellow, HRA will also be given to the candidates.
