UGC advises all the higher education and research institutions to deploy their RT-PCR machines in the district hospitals. Also, they can deploy machines to government labs.

Keeping in view, the pandemic situation, UGC asked the institutes to temporarily donate the RT-PCR machines. These machines are used for testing COVID 19.

Rajnish Jain, the Secretary of UGC wrote a formal letter to Vice -Chancellors of all universities and research centers. The letter requested RT-PCR machines’  deployment.

UGC wrote a letter, addressing all higher-level institutions and research centers. The Ministry of Human Resource Development has asked UGC to convey this message to all the research institutions in the country. In order of the increasing coronavirus testing demand in the country, these machines are really significant.

Adding further, UGC asserted that many educational institutes possess machines in large quantities. Currently,  these machines are not in use. So, to make the most use of available machines in the country, the HRD ministry asked them to do so.

 The demand for RT-PCR machines

The letter reads, ” A communication has been received from the Ministry of human resource and Development wherein it has mentioned that in order to address the testing demands of COVID 19 tests, it is essential that testing centers should strengthen more by RT- PCR machines.”

Adding further, the letter asserts, ” There are a large number of RT-PCR machines available currently available in the educational institutions and can perform tests.”

With the help of these machines, more than 60000 tests in a day can be done. Therefore, all the higher educational institutes and research organizations are advised to temporarily deploy such machines. The district hospitals and governmental laboratories should receive these machines. However, this needs to be done in the supervision of the  District Department of Health.
