UAE’s FIRST FEMALE ASTRONAUT: the United Arab Emirates announced the names of its two next astronauts. The names include Noura Al-Matroshi and Rashid Al Maktoum. Notably, Noura Al-Matroshi is UAE’s first female astronaut and this is an astronomical achievement for all women of the United Arab Emirates. For the future manned space mission, the kingdom has planned to send these two astronauts who will now be trained in NASA.

Ruler of Dubai, Mohammed al-Mulla identified Noura al-Matroushi, the UAE’s first female astronaut, and her counterpart Rashid Al Maktoum. As per a Twitter promotional video, Noura Al-Matroshi was born in 1993 is an engineer at the Abu Dhabi-based National Petroleum Construction Co. whereas her counterpart Al-Mulla was born in 1988 and is a pilot with Dubai police.

From among 4000 applicants across seven sheikhdoms, These two astronauts were selected for the space program for which they will now be trained at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, US.

Hazzaa Al-Mansoori was the UAE’s first astronaut in space who was on a special eight-day mission aboard the International Space Station. UAE recently launched its space satellite Hope in the orbit of Mars in February this year. This was the first satellite for the Arab world. Having ambitious space goals, UAE plans to put an unmanned spacecraft on the moon and also has a goal of building a human colony on Mars by 2117.
