Two Positive Cases In Jnu’s Periyar Hostel, Three Hostels Inhabitants Implored To Stay Put In Rooms

On Tuesday Jawaharlal Nehru University’s Periyar Hostel was sealed after two students tested positive for Covid-19 nearly 50 students have been isolated in the hostel for 14 days, university officials said.

Buddha Singh, warden of Periyar Hostel proclaimed that Two students tested positive for coronavirus and they were taken to quarantine installations outside the campus. The other hostellers have been implored to isolate themselves to allotted rooms and food will be delivered to them.

Godavari Hostel and Kaveri Hostel have also been put in self-isolation for seven days as a precautionary measure as Periyar Hostel was sharing mess facilities with Godavari Hostel and Kaveri Hostel. Around 60 students reside in these hostels.

Venkat Choubey, a third-year Ph.D. student and a resident of the hostel told that The students have been switched to the hospital. We have been consulted not to go out and are living in our allotted rooms. Students are worried since it happened in such a close region. Residents have become more crucial about social distancing regulations. The administration has already sanitized the areas and rooms that were open.
