In the recently released ‘US News and World Report Rankings 2020’, the Department of Mathematics, Aligarh Muslim University has clinched the top rank among various mathematics departments. It has secured the 175th position globally.
In the ‘US News and World Report’, Aligarh Muslim University is squarely placed as a foremost university of national importance on the fourth rank among other Indian universities. As the University is observing its centenary year, the ranking has come just now.
The AMU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor said while stating the first rank obtained by the Department of Mathematics as a proud moment that these rankings revealed that Aligarh Muslim University was one of the most prestigious universities with very high standards of learning and teaching.
The Vice-Chancellor added that AMU attracted students from all over the country and the world.
The students and the faculty members were congratulated by him for their unrelenting efforts to take the Department of Mathematics to the zenith of success.

The Chairman of the Department of Mathematics, Prof Mohammad Ashraf said that the Mathematics Department of AMU had a very active and strong group of researchers working in the core area of applied and pure mathematics.
With a subject score of 47.8 and a global score of 41.5, the Department of Mathematics has been ranked first in India.
