Thousands of jobs have been offered by Internet Cos to meet the new demand. There has been a perceptible shift in consumer behavior inclining towards services that are online. This has happened in the aftermath of the nationwide lockdown imposed due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic. The outbreak of this virus has led to the significant growth of internet companies. This has made these companies form a beeline in the job market.

Online marketplace Amazon India announced seasonal opportunities of 20,000 in the customer service segment on Sunday. These opportunities have been offered by Amazon in different cities, Hyderabad, Pune, Coimbatore, Noida, Kolkata, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Mangalore, Indore, Bhopal, and Lucknow.

At the same time, BigBasket and Grofers have also announced the hiring. Other companies such as Paytm Mall, BharatPe, Licious, NoBroker.com, and EcomExpress have also announced the hiring. This hiring has come at a time when several other companies have laid off employees to cut costs.

Amazon India, in a statement, has said that the new positions offered by the company will require the associates to support the customer needs of the people. This can be done through various mediums like email, chat, social media, and phone.

To be eligible for these jobs, people should have a minimum educational qualification of 12th standard pass and should have proficiency in any of the languages of English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, or Kannada.

Akshay Prabhu, the director of the Customer service at Amazon India said that they are evaluating hiring needs continuously because of the growing customer demands. They also estimate that this customer traffic will escalate further in the next six months once the Indian and global holiday seasons begin.

Paytm Mall has shifted its headquarters from Noida to Bengaluru. It has said that it plans on hiring 300 new members for the product and technology roles and aims at expansion across its business categories.

Paytm Mall has said now that they have shifted their headquarters to Bengaluru, it will be beneficial for their organization to tap into the rich talent pool which is available in the consumer internet of the city and the startup ecosystem.

Ecom Express counts e-commerce companies like Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, Myntra, Paytm, etc. as its customers. They have also announced that they are planning to hire 7,000 people in the next two months. These people will perform last-mile delivery, warehousing management, operations, information technology, and data sciences.

This recruitment is set to be made around metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad. Tier-II cities such as Ahmedabad, Surat, Chandigarh, Indore, Patna, Lucknow, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, and Bhopal will also see new recruitments.

AMAZON OFFERS INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY TO STUDENTS

E-grocery companies like BigBasket and Grofers have been pushed by the need to keep up with the sudden surge in demand after the announcement of lockdown on March 25. This has pushed them to increase their staff strength. BigBasket has chalked out plans to hire 10,000 ground staff. Grofers plans to start the additional hiring of 2,000 workers.

The five large companies in the consumer internet space in India-Uber India and South Asia, Ola, Zomato, Swiggy, and Cure.fit had announced a job reduction of more than 4,000 by the second month of the lockdown. But fresh recruitment and people returning to the job have been witnessed in some macroeconomic indicators.
