The institutions have drafted the new academic calendar or the process has started as per the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines.

Recently, UGC displayed the new academic calendar for the session 2020-21. It clearly states that the admission process for the students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses should be done by 31st October 2020. These students will start the first year of their college. Institutions should note that admissions have to get closed by November 30, 2020.

Bijaylaxmi Nanda, principal of Miranda House said that the admission procedure of Delhi University (DU) will commence as soon as the DU administration comes up with proper guidelines.

She further added that the first cut off will be released after detailed guidelines from the administration department. The certificates of the students will go through a forensic examination this year. Moreover, the information regarding the mode of conducting the new academic year will be accompanied in the guidelines. If the situation arises that classes are conducted offline on the campus than strict measures and special arrangements will be taken.

Coronavirus has delayed the academic session so the authorities will deliberate on the changes to be made in the curriculum.

Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director of IIM Sambalpur agreed with the guidelines released by UGC regarding the new academic calendar. November 1 will witness the starting of the new academic year. He says that the new session should commence in compliance with all safety measures by applying online or blended mode. The students and institutions should adhere to all the guidelines.

The ongoing pandemic made the current academic year start in August 2020. It is conducted in online mode. The online proctoring system was considered the ideal methodology to conduct end term examinations. The same system is decided to be used in future exams.

He added that the online examinations reduce the wastage of paper. As an environmental friendly solution, the institute plans to continue with the online mode of examinations even when things turn towards normalcy. Adding to the benefits he says that online tests are transparent and the inbuilt Artificial Intelligence eliminates human errors. The invigilation process is done by the AI which guarantees the lowest discrepancies.

The examinations for the first semester students will commence at its usual time i.e. from March 8-26, 2021, says the UGC guidelines.

The academic calendar of BML Munjal University declares that the new session will start in online mode. The academic year for all the undergraduate courses will begin in October.
Vice-Chancellor of BML Munjal University, Manoj K Arora said that the admission process continues to date and the last date will be before 30th November as per the guidelines issued by the UGC.

He added that the university has drafted different academic calendars for various courses. The schedule will differ for the new and existing batch of students.
UGC gave a defined number of teaching hours to each subject, the institution finalized the examination dates in all academic calendars according to that. As per the situation, these exams can be conducted online or in offline mode.
