Teachers Day 2022: Every year 5 September is celebrated as teachers’ day, so this year UGC decided to launch research grants and fellowship schemes. The University Grants Commission will launch these new schemes tomorrow i.e., 5 September 2022 (3 PM). Further, anyone can watch the live stream on the YouTube channels as well as on Twitter of the UGC.

Schemes for Faculty

- Research Grant for In-Service Faculty Members
Tenure: 2 Years
This scheme will provide research opportunities to regularly appointed faculty members. Further, the quantum of support under the scheme is Rs 10 lakh. This amount will be provided to 200 selected candidates for a tenure of the mentioned year.
- Dr D.S. Kothari Research Grant for Newly Recruited Faculty Members
Tenure: 2 Years
It aims to provide research opportunities to regularly appointed faculty members. Under this, the quantum of support is Rs 10 lakh for 132 selected candidates for a tenure of 2 years.
- Fellowship for Superannuated Faculty Members
Tenure: 3 Years
It seeks to provide research opportunities to retired teachers. Moreover, there are 100 slots available for this fellowship and selected candidates will be given Rs 50,000 per month. And Rs 50,000 per annum as a contingency.

Doctoral Scheme

- Savitribai Jyotirao Phule fellowship for the single girl child
Tenure: 5 Years
This fellowship scheme has 900 seats and 30 % of them are reserved for only women candidates. Thereafter, the selected candidates get Rs 50,000 per month and Rs 50,000 per annum as a contingency.

Post Doctoral Scheme

- Dr Radhakrishnan UGC Post-Doctoral fellowship schema
Tenure: 3 Years
This scheme aims to provide opportunities to accomplish advanced studies and research in Sciences or Engineering and Technology Humanities and Social Sciences. It also includes languages in Indian universities and institutions.

Besides, teachers’ day is dedicated to all the teachers who are playing a crucial role in students’ life in shaping them and their future. Also, the day is observed with the birth anniversary of the first Vice-President of India and Bharat Ratna holder Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Moreover, he became the second president of our country, India (1962-1967).
