Suspended Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Prof Yogesh Kumar Tyagi has written a letter to President Ram Nath Kovind. In which he has said that the ongoing investigation against him for neglect of duty is against the rules. Therefore, he has asked him to immediately suspend the suspension and restore his post. The letter also mentions the involvement of some people in the ministry behind the rights fight in DU.
The Vice-Chancellor was suspended by the President in October 2020. This letter is written by Prof. Tyagi 120 days after the suspension. At the same time, Chancellor Nominee Rajkumar Bhatia in DU Executive Council has also written a letter to the inquiry committee constituted by the President and requested to withdraw the suspension. In a conversation with Dainik Jagran, Rajkumar Bhatia confirmed the writing of the letter.
The Vice-Chancellor has written that the officials of the Ministry have been unable to clarify the rules under which action has been recommended. The action was taken by citing Section 7A actually allows the suspended Delhi University Vice-Chancellor to communicate with the President. They cannot be removed from the university. However, Prof. Tyagi expresses his displeasure with the past events and writes that even after investigation, he is not interested in serving his university.

It is worth mentioning that the University of Delhi had a controversy over the rights issue in October last year. The vice-chancellor had appointed Prof Geeta Bhatt and Prof PC Jha to the post of acting vice-chancellor, Prof PC Joshi. Meanwhile, the acting Vice-Chancellor appointed Dr. Vikas Gupta to the post of Registrar. The matter was later passed on to the President.
