Due to COVID-19, all the schools and educational institutions are taking online classes of students. Students have to face many difficulties while attending online classes. Poor internet connection is one of them.

The education Minister of Odisha said that students in Odisha have to walk miles, climb hills and trees to attend online lectures. He said that 22 lakh children are availing the facility of online classes with proper internet access in the state. But the remaining 38 lakh students do not have proper internet connection in their areas.

CHIEF MINISTER OF ODISHA DISCUSSED ABOUT ONLINE CLASSES WITH PM MODI

He said that the Chief Minister of Odisha has talked about this matter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has requested PM Modi to expand internet connectivity in remote areas. After hoisting of flag at the Independence Day function at the District Headquarters town at Jaipur, the minister talked to PM Modi.

GOVERNMENT CLARIFIES REOPENING OF SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES

ONLY ONE-THIRD STUDENTS ARE AVAILING ONLINE CLASSES

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, all the educational institutions are shut down since March. That is why state governments have come up with the idea of online education. But only one-third of students are able to avail of the facility due to poor Internet connection.

STUDENTS OF SMALL DISTRICT HAVE TO CLIMB TREES AND HILLS TO ATTEND ONLINE CLASSES

As per the reports, students in the Rayagada district have to walk miles and climb hills to attend online lectures. Students in Sambalpur and Deogarh district have to climb water tanks so that they can get access to an internet connection. Students of Angul districts and other districts have to climb trees to attend online lectures.

The Education Minister exclaimed delightfully imparting online classes to the students. But children have to climb hills and trees to attend e-lectures. He said that the Chief Minister has put this matter into consideration with PM Modi to expand internet connection.

TEACHERS WILL TAKE CLASSES AT HOME AT THOSE DISTRICTS WHO ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND ONLINE CLASSES

The Minister said that teachers will take classes at home in the areas where it will be difficult to impart online education. Three months have already passed taking online classes and the department has already set up committees to reduce the academic burden of students. The new syllabus would be finalized next week.

SCHOOLS WILL REMAIN CLOSED TILL AUGUST 31 

Talking about the reopening of schools, the government is not yet ready to reopen schools and risk the lives of children in such a pandemic. Schools will not reopen till August 31. The Centre will ask states to take this decision of reopening schools in September. He further said that due to rising cases in August, it is difficult to predict that the situation will be normal in September in Odisha.
