Student Unions: On Monday, the Students’ Federation of India and the National Students’ Union of India opposed Delhi University’s decision to name one of its newly formed DU colleges after Hindutva ideologue Veer Savarkar. They said that it was an initiative to distort history. The NSUI threatened to stop the working of the university if the judgment was not taken back.

As per the news, Delhi University’s vice-chancellor has planned to name new colleges and centers after Savarkar and late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj. The SFI said Delhi University in the latest executive meeting talked about naming the newly formed colleges after Savarkar. This is an initiative to distort history. It said Sabotaging the independence movement of India was Savarkar’s tribute to the country.

SFI, DU strongly defies this plan of naming the college after Savarkar and will resume exposing the hypocrisy of RSS-BJP and their inaccurate rhetoric of patriotism to hide their failures and betrayal in front of the student community.
