Shashi Tharoor, a Congress leader asserted that colleges and universities have no longer remained inclusive spaces. Hence, they do not care for freedom of expression and individual liberty. This statement was made by the Congress leader on Tuesday, 16th March 2021.
Mr. Shashi Tharoor stressed the replacement of narrow-minded identities with a strong willingness to embrace differences.

He considers the Union budget for education as a bizarre series of cuts. Hence, he says that the country’s primary and higher education system needs positive development. He did also pointed out the drawbacks in the education system exposed during the covid-19 pandemic.
A widespread digital gap was witnesses. Also, students were unable to get education and some even took their own lives. Hence, this all happened due to the lack of internet and smartphone access to each one. Therefore, Mr. Shashi Tharoor also pitched for having a national computer curriculum.

He did sadly say that institutions like JNU, JMI, and others have changed entirely. Hence, these universities no longer remain the inclusive space that protected individual freedom. However, in these passing years, there has been a systematic struggle of imposing a singular and dominating ideology. This had altered the character of Indian colleges and universities. Mr. Tharoor considers this as no less than an assault on the soul of free and diverse India. Therefore, the only method left is to replace the narrow-minded identities with the will to embrace differences.
