On Wednesday, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) notified in an order issued on September 15 that Delhi schools will remain closed up to class 8.

Earlier, from September 1, the physical classes for 9 and 11 students were allowed to reopen. Similarly for classes 10 and 12 were also allowed to come to school. For the board exams, they were allowed to work-related exams and do practical activities.

Everything was closed in March last year ahead of a nationwide lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus. Schools in the national capital were reopened for classes 9 to 12 in January this year. But they were again closed in April because of the deadly second wave of COVID-19.

From Thursday, the Delhi government has permitted public fairs and exhibitions. The business-to-consumer exhibitions will be allowed in the national capital from September 16. The DDMA order mentioned that the other activities prohibited and allowed by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) will remain as it is till October 1.

Delhi Schools reopening: The attendance status:

The Delhi government schools are buzzing and have higher attendance in every classroom. But, the private schools in Delhi are facing a poor turnout.

Schools reopened for classes 9th to 12th on September 1. Also, the coaching centers reopened in a phased manner. Thus, this decision came after 17 long months of shutdown.

As per the principals of the Delhi government schools, the attendance is around 70-80 percent. Thus, this data was analyzed last week. On the other hand, the private school’s attendance is as low as 10 percent.
