The Education Minister of Tripura Ratan Lal Nath said that schools in the state would reopen from October 5 for students. Due to COVID 19, all schools and educational institutions are shut down temporarily from the month of March.

The Education Minister took this decision at the committee meeting of the Education Department at the Civil Secretariat. The Vice-Chancellors of Tripura University(Central), Maharaja Bir Bikram University, and the officials of the primary and higher education department attended the committee meeting.

SCHOOLS TO REOPEN FOR CLASS 9 TO 12

Tripura Education Minister said that half strength of teachers would attend school on a rotational basis. Students from class 9 to 12 have to bring a written consent signed by their parents. Then only the authority would allow them to attend school.

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT STARTED HELPLINE CENTERS 

During the coronavirus pandemic, the education department started online classes, students helpline call centers, SMS-Based classrooms, and video lecture sessions for local TV channels. The department started neighborhood classes for students who are not able to attend online classes due to a lack of electronic gadgets. They started the classes from August 20 with a 1:5 teacher-student ratio.

But, COVID-19 cases and related deaths simultaneously increased. That is why they had to close it within a week.

COMMENCEMENT OF FIRST YEAR STUDENTS ACADEMIC SESSION FROM NOVEMBER

At first, Tamil Nadu also decided to resume classes for students of 10, 11, and 12 class from 1st October, 2020. The state government issued some Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the same. For first-year students, the academic session will begin from November 1.

UGC RELEASED GUIDELINES FOR SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES

The University Grants Commission (UGC) released the latest guidelines. Those guidelines directed the Universities and Colleges to complete merit or entrance based admission procedure by October 2020. As per the latest guidelines, in case there will be some delay in the declaration of results the University will start the academic session from November 18.
