Maharashtra-based student organization filed a right to information (RTI) request. It showed that many city colleges are yet to reimburse refundable deposits for students who graduated between 2006 and 2017.

Three colleges are yet to return nearly Rs2.5 crore entirely to their students, as per the information disclosed by the RTI

On Thursday the Ambedkar Students Association (ASA) released the RTI, which shows that Jai Hind, Mithibai, and GN Khalsa college have repaid just a piece of the refundable store.

In any case, the college heads said that no student has ever been denied a refundable deposit. According to college rules, administrators said, such deposits can be secured by the students within a term limit, and in the past, cash could be diverted as a subsidy paid to the current students of the organization.

The principal of Jai Hind College, Ashok Wadia, explained, We are a charitable trust, and every year we have to show our books of account to the Charity Commissioner.

Not just have understudies not asserted the cash inside the specified time span, yet as a rule, our understudies have wouldn’t claim the money and approached us to utilize the money to support understudies in the college.

He included that never has there been an instance of an understudy looking for a refund of deposits being denied the equivalent.

Jai Hind College has obtained more than Rs.53 lakhs in refundable stores and over a long period Rs. 12.50 lakh has been paid. Additionally, the GN Khalsa College of Matunga has anywhere in the 2006 and 2017 range of Rs. 3.39 crores, and paid nearly Rs. 22.6 lakhs, while Mithibai College of Vile Parle has collected Rs.322 crores and a rebate of Rs. 22.8 lakhs to students, according to the documents shared by ASA.

GT Khalsa and Mithibai College Principals were inaccessible for input despite some messages and calls by HT.
