The race for application for admission in the colleges of Delhi University for the academic session 2021-22 is going on. Once again girl students are going to have an advantage in admission. The university administration has once again asked the colleges to give some percentage relaxation in cutoff to the girl students.
Although, It is not mandatory for colleges. The colleges which want to give this exemption can give it. Like last year, this time also some colleges will give a relaxation up to one percent to the girl students.
How many colleges will do this is not fixed, but it is believed that the number of colleges could be more than twenty. This exemption will not apply to the students. In some colleges, this exemption will be available in all courses and some courses.
Admission Committee Chairman Prof. Rajiv Gupta said that the colleges have been asked to give relaxation. It is not mandatory but colleges provide this exemption to encourage girl students to pursue higher education.
For girl students, this exemption can be up to one percent. Till four years ago, this exemption used to range from one to five percent. The mathematics of relaxation in cutoff can be understood in this way. For example, if the cut-off of a course in a college is 98 percent, then the student’s admission will be on that percentage only.
Whereas due to one percent relaxation for girl students, this cut-off will be 97 percent for them. After getting this concession, girl students will get benefits in admission. The position regarding this will be clear only after the release of cut-off.
