Registration for admission to undergraduate courses at Delhi University (DU) has started on the CSAS 2024 portal. The admissions for the bachelor’s degree courses will be based on CUET UG scores. There are 71,000 seats available in regular colleges and the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB). Additionally, there are 14,000 supernumerary seats.

More Admissions Than Fixed Seats

DU’s Dean of Admissions, Prof. Haneet Gandhi, announced that more students will be admitted than the fixed number of seats. In the first round, 20% more students will be allotted seats in the General, OBC, and EWS categories. For the SC and ST categories, 30% more students will be admitted. This approach was also taken last year. But, colleges with a low rate of admission cancellations will not see as many extra seats allotted.

Prof. Gandhi explained that admitting more students than the number of seats ensures that seats do not remain vacant after some students cancel their admissions. In colleges where the admission cancellation rate is less than 5%, only 10% more students will be admitted in the General, OBC, and EWS categories, and 15% more in the SC/ST categories.
