RECORD REGISTARTIONS FOR THE JEE MAIN 2021

Over the four cycles permitted this year for the JEE Main exams, a record 21.75 lakh registration has been made. This record figure has made JEE (Main) exam one of the biggest exams for undergraduate admissions which is a computer-based competitive exam.

The exam will be offered in 12 Indian languages, out of which 10 are being offered for the first time, to nearly 1.5 lakh candidates.

The four states which have over 2.2 lakh candidates each are Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra.

As per the data on the last date for registration which was 23 January 2021, most of the aspirants of the engineering/ architecture will be attempting the exam in English whereas 149621 candidates opted for Indian languages. Half of those who opted for Indian languages have opted for Hindi.

Gujarati and Bengali have the most number of aspirants with 44094 and 24841 respectively after Hindi among other Indian languages.

Nearly 6.6 lakh candidates have registered for the first cycle of the JEE Main 2021 which will be conducted in February followed by other cycles in March, April, May.

As the registration window will briefly open again after each of the first three cycles to allow the students to opt-out or apply for the subsequent cycles, the exam conducting agency i.e. NTA is expecting a rise in the number of registrations.

For admission to an undergraduate course in the Indian Institutes of Information Technology, National Institutes of Technology, and other centrally-funded technical institutions and engineering colleges of participating states. JEE Main also functions as the eligibility stage for the JEE Advanced which is the gateway to the IITs.

200-odd technical institutions of UP will also be conducting their admissions based on scores of this test for the first time.
