A “Speak-Up” campaign has been launched by the Congress against the move by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to conduct Final-year examination in colleges in September even after the spiraling spike of the COVID-19 cases nationwide.
A video message was released by the senior congress leaders on Friday, demanding the UGC and the Centre to listen to the voices of objection from teachers and students. They also suggested to learn from what the IITs have done. They even demanded that the students should be promoted on the basis of their performances in the past examinations instead.
Rahul Gandhi said that it was extremely unfair to conduct exams during this COVID-19 pandemic. He said that the voices of students and academics must be heard by the UGC and the students should be promoted on the basis of the pa past performances and the exams must be canceled.
He further added that the COVID-19 pandemic had harmed a lot of people. The Congress leaders said that the students in schools, colleges, and universities have been struggling a lot and even IITs have promoted students after canceling exams.
