Representative of Delhi University Students’ Union members and Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) met the Principal of Ramjas College of the Delhi University. They submitted a memorandum asking for a quick redressal of the issues related to DU online admission 2020.
The Delhi University Student’s Union has been receiving very frequent complaints in reference to the glitches in the process of admission. These complaints were received on the multi-lingual helpline of the DUSU.
As per the Complaints, the nodal officers of some colleges including Hansraj College, Ramjas College, Kalindi College, and Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College were not available on calls.
The caste/category certificates given by the students were also rejected by the colleges. The colleges did not even give an opportunity to the candidates to submit an undertaking as was specified by the University of Delhi.
The Principal of Ramjas College, University of Delhi gave an overview of the arrangements made by the college to the students union and also further assured that the grievances and issues will be redressed at the earliest. The Students Union has also mailed the Principals of Hansraj College, Kalindi College, and ARSD College regarding the concerns and issues and requested to act in accordance.
Shivangi Kharwal, Joint Secretary, DUSU, said, “We have been receiving calls constantly distressed students. The site crash and the time being taken in verification is a major issue. Some colleges have been rejecting applications citing old category certificates, despite the guidelines from University. The Nodal officers, too, have been unresponsive. Student’s Union will continue taking up such issues with college principals.”
Pradeep Tanwar, Vice-President, DUSU, said, “It is the responsibilities of the colleges and the University to make the admission process hassle-free for the students. Students’ Union helpline has been receiving calls from students constantly throughout and we have been taking up the issues that come up with respective principals to make sure they are addressed.”
The delegation which went to meet the Principal of the Ramjas College was comprised of Pradeep Tanwar, DUSU Vice-president, Shivangi Kharwal, DUSU Joint-Secretary, and Ashish Singh from ABVP.
