Delhi University affiliated College of Art on 6th March clarified that the current batch of students will receive their degrees from Delhi University.
On Tuesday, the Delhi Cabinet announced the de-affiliation of College of Art from DU and merger with Ambedkar University Delhi. All three institutes are run by the state government.
Soon after the announcement, students studying at DU’s College of Art raised concerns regarding their degrees while DU officials called the action arbitrary and illegal.

DELHI UNIVERSITY AFFILIATED COLLEGE OF ART TO BE MERGED WITH AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY
BS Chauhan, the College’s officiating principal on Friday said that the students who are already enrolled and are presently studying at the College of Art would continue to be administered by the University of Delhi. Furthermore, their degrees will also be issued from the University of Delhi.
The same day, the University of Delhi wrote to the Delhi government asking the due procedure to be followed before withdrawing the affiliation of the college. Balram Pani, Dean of College asserted that the Delhi government cannot de-affiliate College of Art affiliated to University of Delhi on its own without getting approval from the Delhi University’s statutory bodies I.e. executive and academic councils. He added that we are waiting for the government’s response.
DELHI UNIVERSITY TO FACILITATE LEARNING IN REGIONAL LANGUAGES
A senior government official conceded that Delhi University’s College of Art is a fully-funded college by the Delhi government and thus the decision to merge it with AUD does not require any approval from Delhi University.
College’s principal BS Chauhan order was further sent to all the faculty members of the College along with a copy of the Delhi government’s Directorate of training and technical education order which stated that AUD will administer the admission procedure in the College of Art from next academic session.
