Seems like the DU OBE chapter knows no ends any soon.

A letter to file a police complaint in the Maurice Nagar police station against the Vice-chancellor of the University of Delhi alleging breach of trust committed on the part of the university with its students.

An open letter addressed to the SHO, Maurice Nagar Police station mentioned that a breach of trust has been committed by the university regarding the personal information of the students of DU.

It was alleged that the university did not secure the personal data of the students which was submitted with complete trust to them. The admit cards of the students are available openly on the website containing the personal information like Name and date of birth which would be enough for a layman who can even put a little technical effort by changing URL and can easily locate this information from the university website which as they are so easily available and not properly secured. Further, this information can be used for taking more information like Adhar card number, Bank account number, Bank account details, residential address of student from college website through their admission form which can again create more problems for students, it claimed.

It was also added that the personal information of students can be accessed very easily and it can be misused for wrong purposes.

Delhi university administration and Vice-chancellor have been accused to be working very callously despite the high eminence the institution holds. The letter further added that the university doesn’t care about the security of the students and many of them are even receiving calls from unknown numbers already due to which they are under fear and mental pressure.

It was also mentioned that this is a clear case of breach of trust by the university and it is a hindrance in the privacy of the students. Such important information of students which is now very easily accessible can bring threats to students if such data came in the hands of the anti-social elements.

Arun Hooda, former president of the DUSU 2012-13 and Akshay Lakra, state president of NSUI who are also students of Faculty of Law and Campus Law Centre respectively urged on the behalf of NSUI that the Delhi University has acted negligently and has committed a breach of trust, hence a complaint should be filed against Vice-Chancellor under relevant sections.
