Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee will inaugurate the Institute of Medical Sciences and Research. He will also address the 66th convocation of IIT Kharagpur on 23 February through video conferencing.

The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur has launch Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, a super specialty hospital with support from the Ministry of Education.

It said that the Union Education Minister, Union Minister of State for Education, and Governor of West Bengal will also be present on the occasion.

The Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Institute is motivated by the concept of the prime minister that the future of India will be formed by investment in science and innovation and run by its research talent, the PMO further mentioned.

The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that this super specialty hospital will concentrate on clinical, robust biomedical, and translational research, development of remote diagnostics, teleradiology, telemedicine, along with research in drug design and delivery. The statement read that the MBBS program is directed to start from the academic year 2021-22 in addition to PG and doctoral programs.

Moreover, Prime Minister’s Office further mentioned in the statement that Institute of Technology ( IIT ) Kharagpur in association with the ministry of education set up this hospital. Moreover, this hospital is a product of the fusion between healthcare and technology.

Ramesh Pokhriyal, Union education minister, Sanjay Dhotre, Union minister of state for education, and Jagdeep Dhankhar, governor of West Bengal will join Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this.
