Schools and metro services are not likely to resume even after the next two phases of lockdown. PM Narendra Modi is going to ease some restrictions is in the next phase.

Earlier, schools were going to reopen in the next phase. But now, According to the top officials who were included in the discussion said PM Narendra Modi Government is not likely to allow the reopening of schools. The top officials said that earlier the metro services were about to resume. But now, metro services will not start soon. On the other hand, gyms and swimming pools might remain out of bound. These decisions are taken as the spread of COVID-19 would be further checked.

UNLOCK 1.0 AND 2.0 HELPED TO REVIVE THE INDIAN ECONOMY

The nation was under lockdown for 68 days. After that, PM Narendra Modi announced two-phase of Unlock 1.0 and 2.0 in June and July respectively. Each phase allowed some relaxation in restrictions in order to revive the Indian economy and get back to a normal life. There are many places that are outside the containment zone still has a number of cases. Only those so-called out of the containment zones got some relaxation. States have got the freedom to impose restrictions in their area if they feel that number of cases is rising.

THE NUMBER OF COVID-19 CASES ARE RISING

In India, the number of COVID-19 cases are continuously rising. There were 48,468 more cases on Saturday. Now, the total COVID-19 cases are around 1,383,959. All the schools and educational institutions are shut down since March. The HRD Ministry in the meeting began to consult about the reopening of schools with States and other stakeholders. The Secretary of School Education, Anita Karwal, and other state education secretaries were present in the meeting. They all discussed the health and safety of students, hygiene measures in schools, and issues related to online education.

PARENTS ARE NOT WILLING TO SEND THEIR CHILD TO SCHOOL

HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said in June that they will take suggestions from parents regarding the decision of reopening of school. Those suggestions will be examined and sent to the Health Ministry and Ministry of Human Affairs. After consulting, the HRD Ministry stated to the COVID-19 managers that many parents are not willing to send their child to school in this pandemic. One of the officials said that the HRD Ministry states that many parents requested to reopen school only after the vaccine is developed.

RESUMING METRO SERVICES WILL LEAD BACK TO A NORMAL LIFE

India will try the Oxford-Astra Zeneca vaccine next month. The officials are hoping that if the trial is successful, the vaccine will arrive by December. The other official said that they have to be very careful about school because children’s health is most important. Although resuming metro services will lead back to a normal life. But it also has many risks in cities of Delhi, Kolkata, and Bangalore. Suburban trains are operating in Mumbai for workers providing essential services.

INDEPENDENCE DAY WILL BE CELEBRATED WITH RESTRICTIONS

Gathering of a large number of people will continue to be prohibited. The government will celebrate Independence Day with many restrictions at Rashtrapati Bhawan on the afternoon of Independence Day. The Cabinet Secretary said that two or three lockdowns are not enough to slow the spread of COVID-19. Some states have even imposed lockdown. In some states, the situation can turn down while in the other the situation is deteriorating.
