Placements are the dark side of Delhi university, that nobody has an idea about while applying for admissions after working hard to qualify for those super high cut-offs. And having passed out from Delhi University, and being through the placements mess, I can answer this question really well.
Placements in the best colleges in the North and South Campus or Off Campus like SRCC, KMC, Miranda House, Hindu, Venky, SBSC, Gargi, LSR, SSCBS, KMV, etc. will surely get you in the Big 4s or other big and famous MNCs, (obviously depending on how well you perform in the placement interviews) with packages ranging from Amazing to Decent depending on your college ranking, and for fancy positions like Analyst, Associate, Audit Associate. Also, it depends greatly on your course. Economics Hons., B.com. Hons., Computer Sc.Hons. are the main courses which attract companies.
But, if your college is nowhere in the list, then you’ll be sitting for college or University placements for MNCs again, but for positions in their BPOs like Customer Service Executives, Process Associates, or Airlines with Cabin Crew, sometimes Pvt. Indian Companies come for university placements for positions in Sales and Marketing. Here the packages range from 1.5–2–3–3.5 lakh p.a.
There are many colleges under the University of Delhi, which rank high in terms of the number of placement offers.
LSR saw a large number of companies visiting the campus this year. The highest package was Rs. 37.8 lakh per annum (LPA) so far, according to the placement cell. The average number of recruited students also increased, it added. It received offers from top companies like AIG, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Deloitte, American Express, and Ernst & Young among others.\
SRCC Commerce has received over 300 offers from more than 60 recruiters this year, exceeding expectations, according to its placement report for this season. The highest package this time is Rs. 31 LPA offered by Parthenon-EY while the average package is Rs. 6 LPA. The college said that recruiters’ offers crossed a total worth of over Rs. 15 crore.
Next on the list is St. Stephen’s College, which is another best-rated college under the University of Delhi, offering good placements to students. The highest offer in terms of CTC in the college is reportedly Rs. 19-20 LPA by the Boston Consulting Group. This year, it saw nearly 90 companies visiting its campus for the 2017-18 session.
Meanwhile, the Hansraj College of Delhi University saw over 85 recruiters visiting its campus for offering placements. It witnessed an increase in the highest offer as well as the average package amount this season. The highest package was Rs. 17.5 LPA, up from last year’s Rs. 16 LPA. The average package amount also rose from last year’s Rs. 5.02 LPA to Rs. 6 LPA.
Next up is Sri Venkateswara College in the South Campus which witnessed as many as 88 companies offering placement opportunities. According to the placement cell, the college received 146 offers for the Departments of Science, Commerce, and Arts. The highest offer of Rs. 10 LPA was made by OneDirect so far (as of May’18) while the average salary package stood at Rs. 4.15 lakh.
According to the NIRF-MHRD rankings of top colleges for 2017, there are three top Delhi University colleges on the basis of Graduation outcomes (percentage of placement) on the list. They include Shri Ram College of Commerce, Miranda House, and Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College.
