Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS) was introduced on Sunday. It has begun working from its provisional building at Sishu Bhawan Square here from the day of its installation.
The health and family welfare division on Sunday published a statement. Odisha University of Health Sciences was established on March 5 in the year 2023. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik authorized this on Sunday.
The new university will deliver uniform as well as quality medical education. UG and PG courses in allopathy, homoeopathy, Ayurveda, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, laboratory technology, and all other paramedical sciences in the state.

DU ORGANIZES A SESSION ON MEDITATION AND MENTAL HEALTH
This will be an affiliating university. This university will encircle more than 200 hundred medical and paramedical colleges in the state. The authorities are functioning on developing common curricula and academic calendars. For medical colleges under distinct universities, which will be a portion of OUHS.

Now Odisha has 10 government medical colleges as well as several Ayurvedic, homoeopathy, nursing, and paramedical institutions. These are under distinct general universities. These will be affiliated with OUHS.
DU ADMISSION PROCESS FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS WILL INITIATE NEXT WEEK
In 2-3 years, four additional government medical colleges will become useable at Kalahandi, Jajpur, Kandhamal, and Talcher. Private institutions delivering health and paramedic education will also come up. This university will supervise these institutions.
The wait in the commissioning of the university had lifted troubles of MLAs across party lines in the state assembly in July last year. The then health minister Damodar Rout had declared the building of an affiliating health university in the year 2014.
Now Datteswar Hota, former chief, and principal of SCB medical college and hospitals. He is looking after the matters of the university as an officer on special duty Sources. The government has been struggling with the initial workforce need and infrastructure for starting the university. A committee has been created to propose an alternative site of around 25 acres for the university’s endless campus in the city.
