Northeast Students In Delhi University Were Helped By Minister Jitendra Singh After Facing Leave-Hostel Notice 

By the end of this month, the students of Delhi University had been asked to leave the hostel as soon as possible by the provost. They are taking this step due to the expiry of the mess. Whereas, according to the latest information, the hostel has a capacity of about 100 and currently 13 students are stuck there because of the lockdown.

13 girl students from the Northeast studying in Delhi University were helped by Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Sunday after they w asked to leave the college hostel. Union Minister Jitendra Singh made it clear that the students can continue to stay in their college hostel as long as they wish without any worry.

When the Delhi University administration asked the students to relinquish the North Eastern Students House for women by the end of this month, the Minister for Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER) negotiated in the matter.

There are around 13 students in the hostels and they stuck there because of the lockdown. The hostel has a capacity of about 100 even then the provost had asked the 13 students to leave the hostel till May 31.
Jitendra Singh said that he has spoken to Professor Y C Tyagi, the vice-chancellor of the Delhi University regarding the students and resolved the issue. He convinced the students staying in the hostel that they can continue to stay comfortably in the hostel as long as they wish.
Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus and spread of the global pandemic, the minister said that no one should bother the students and put them under any kind of harassment when a country-wide lockdown is going on.

Kiren Rijiju, Union Sports Minister thanked Jitendra Singh for his kind act. He thanked him for his timely intervention and help to the distraught students from the Northeast.
