On Thursday, the Supreme Court (SC) refused to postpone the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or GATE exam 2022. Due to Covid restrictions in various areas of the country, the exam is scheduled to be conducted on 5 February 2022.

To clarify, Justices DY Chandrachud, Surya Kant, and Vikram Nath said, “Postponing GATE exam 2022 just 48 hours before the examination schedule shall result in chaos. Also, we cannot take a chance on the students’ careers. As students have prepared for it.

Further, the bench adds, “When to conduct examinations and when not, it is the matter of academic policy. Therefore, the court can not intervene in this issue.”
