NIT ROURKELA: WORK TO UPLIFT THE ODISHA’S BACKWARD DISTRICTS

The NIT Rourkela has signed an agreement with its alumni Venkata Narasimham Peri to work towards the upliftment of the backward regions of Odisha like Koraput, Balangir, and Kalahandi. The esteemed National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela will work with its distinguished alumni.

The sponsorship for the Poverty Alleviation Research Centre (PARC) in NIT Rourkela will be handled by Mr. Peri. The project aims to reduce poverty in the targeted regions. This will prove to be a significant step in the direction of upliftment of the underprivileged.

The diamond jubilee of the NIT Rourkela was celebrated recently. The celebration witnessed this announcement. The agreement was signed between the institute and an alumnus for the poverty alleviation program.

The Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ was also present at the virtual event. He mentioned the institute is doing well in its field. With the help of FTBI (Foundation for Technology and Business Incubation) the institute is doing wonders.

He further added that institutes like this are pioneers in India’s call for ‘Local for Global’ and ‘Vocal for Local’. There is a significant role of educational institutions in the upliftment of the backward regions. ‘Nishank’ said that the students must work towards creating jobs rather than seeking for them.
