The Education Ministry has suspended CSP Rao, Director of NIT Andhra Pradesh. The action is taken due to the complaints of irregularities in the institution. Moreover, the Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI, and also the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Visakhapatnam began the investigation regarding the same. 

To clarify, CSP Rao was allegedly filled important posts such as PRO, Assistant Professor, Liaison Officer, Junior Assistant, or Superintendents. According to the reports, the allegation is also that he had appointed Ram Prasad as PRO despite NIT doesn’t have such a post. Ram Prasad stayed on the post of PRO from 3 December 2018 to 1 November 2019. Further, he got a monthly Rs INR 50,000.

In addition, Rao allegedly appointed superintendents Ch Annapurna, and Kappaka Gopalakrishna. VV Suresh as Junior Assistant and Veerash Kumar as Assistant Professor. Appointing allegedly means the appointed person doesn’t meet the eligibility criteria of the respective post.

Earlier, he was a Mechanical Engineering professor at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal. On 9 March 2018, he was appointed as the Director of NIT Andhra Pradesh for five years. Besides, when he was a professor at NIT Warangal, he took a bribe of Rs. 1.50 lakh. Also a treadmill from a Ph.D. scholar. 

Further, he took bribes from a catering contractor through his companion bank account. The CBI stated that he accepted bribes from SS Caterers with four others. The other four names are as follows, Vidyaniketan, Neerella Subramaniam, N Vishnu Murthy, and Dhanalakshmi.
