Various educational institutions will study the expansion of national highways and suggest improvements to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Officials of the Education Ministry stated that IITs, NITs as well as other reputed technology institutes in India will now adopt NH sections voluntarily and students, faculties, and researchers from these institutes will use them as a field of study for the latest industry trends.

According to a PTI report, Improvement prospects in safety, riding comfort, maintenance, usage of new technologies on the adopted stretches, and removal of congestion points will be studied by the partner institutes, attending which they will give acceptable suggestions to the NHAI for consideration.

A senior ministry official said in the report that during the conceptualization, design, and preparation of the new projects, the institutes would join the NHAI. Besides, the institute will recommend relevant parameters along with innovations based on the climate, topography of the site as well as resource capacity for a better socio-economic outcome.

IIT PLACEMENTS AS HIGH AS 1.54 CRORES AMIDST THE PANDEMIC BLUES

The National Highways Authority of India will offer internships to 20 UG students per year and 20 PG students from institutions. The duration of the internship will be two months per student. Internships for UG students will be at a remuneration of Rs 8,000, whereas, for PG students it will be Rs 15,000 per month.
