Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal to the queries, and doubts of students related to the New Education Policy(NEP) 2020. His social media page of Twitter was set as the platform of this question and answer session. NEP 2020 has been enforced by the union cabinet on 29th July. Here, questions pertaining to the NCERT curriculum, vocational learning, SWAYAM Prabha, and library installations are considered.
The primary aim of this day-long FAQ was to clear student’s doubts regarding the New Education Policy(NEP 2020). A fortnight-long series of webinars had also been arranged on this new policy prior to this. However, students have been constantly questioning the NEP and trending the hashtag – NEPTransformingIndia on Twitter.
The education minister, Mr. Ramesh Pokriyal focused on explaining the new structure of the school curriculum and about the changes that might be expected under the NEP. So, Modifications in the Board Examinations are also included. Also, an insight into the consultations undertaken by the ministry before the ultimate finalization is given.

NEP 2020 on NCERT Curriculum:
1. Modifications have been made in the NCERT curriculum under one of the provisions of the NEP. Students have shown concern about these changes and if they would continue having the class 10 and class 12 Board Examinations. To this query, Dr. RP Nishank clarified that a National Curriculum Framework has been prepared by the NCERT. This framework would define and specify the new modalities considering the NEP recommendations. Hence, the NEP suggests redesignation of the Board Examination to encourage holistic development.
2. Another uncertainty of students was the choice of subjects. They asked if they could opt for subjects from various streams like history in commerce and more. To this, he again responded that the National Curriculum Framework(NCFSE) prepared by the NCERT would define these modalities soon.

NEP 2020 and Higher Education:
1. Will NEP changes be applicable to private institutions? Dr. Nishank remarks that the New Education Policy envisages bringing changes in the education system of India. Therefore, it will transform both Public and Private Institutions.
2. Doubts regarding the effects on Dual Degree admissions were addressed. The minister said, “Multidisciplinary and holistic education will be introduced in a phased manner by assessing the readiness of the institutions.”
Advancement in Early Childhood Care:
The Ministry of Education had held one webinar focusing on Early Childhood Care and Education amongst its series of webinars. These webinars were collectively titled as “Shikshak Parv.” Hence, a lot of queries regarding this had been clarified in this webinar.
1. What is the 5+3+3+4 structure given in the New Education Policy(NEP)?
To this Dr. Nishank replies, a new structure will definitely come by 2021 and its model would be defined by the National Curriculum for School Education. He also added, “Pre-schooling will become an integral part of education.” Hence, children aged between 3 years and 6 years have to attend schools compulsorily.
MINISTRY OF EDUCATION ORGANIZES WEBINAR ON PROMOTION OF INDIAN LANGUAGES
Update on the online libraries:
1. In the question and answer round, a student asked if free public libraries and labs would be established. The vision of NEP includes an extension in the building of public and school libraries. Therefore, reading culture is to be promoted in India. This would also give motivation in learning, R&D, and others.
2. How can the right device be provided to educators and students for content creation? Here, it is said that schools lack access to IT infra, and it can be a tough job. The minister answers that an extension of existing e-learning platforms like SWAYAMMHRD AND DIKSHA will be made available to the teachers. Hence, structured and user-friendly assistive tools will be allotted to examine the assessment of learners. Also, a Two-way video and audio interface tool will also be made available for holding online classes.
NEP 2020 and Vocational Learning:
The minister of education on his Twitter page said that the vision if this program is an integration of vocational education into this huge sector of education. So, this also incorporates the collaboration of secondary schools with ITs, local industry, polytechnics, and numerous others.
