NEET MDS Counseling: The Supreme Court has issued notice to the Central Government and the National Board of Examinations (NBE) on the plea of candidates awaiting counseling for admission to the courses of MDS i.e. Master of Dental Surgery. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-MDS exam was conducted on 16th December 2020 by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) for admission to Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) courses. Since then the counseling procedure has not begun yet.

Due to this unexpected delay, nine doctors of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) filed a petition in the Supreme Court. During the hearing of the petition, the court has issued notice to the Centre, the National Board of Examination, and others seeking their response. In this petition, a request has been made to direct the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) to release the counseling dates in respect of the examination conducted for admission to NEET-MDS on December 16 last year at the earliest.

A bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice MR Shah, while agreeing to hear the petition, issued notices to the Central Government, Dental Council of India i.e. Dental Council of India, among others. The top court will now hear this request on 12 July 2021.
