What is the Visually Challenged Project of NSS Miranda House?

Rekha Kumar, a professor at Miranda House college and the programming officer of NSS, says that the whole idea was conceptualized to assist the visually challenged students. Hence, all college students who are unable to read will be benefited from this project. Therefore, the books will be uploaded on the college’s website this week.

The pandemic education has been harsh and the students can only rely on library resources. However, the ones who are not able to read were left helpless. Therefore, this project will install audiobooks in the library so that the visually challenged students don’t face any further problems.

Efforts of Miranda House students:

Several types of books were converted into audiobooks under this project. Hence, it included poetry, fiction, classical, and other types of books. These were converted into English, Hindi, and other regional languages. Around 150 students of Miranda House college worked hard to create a repository of audio files.

The regional language files included languages like Bengali, Maithili, Marathi, Punjabi, Telugu, and Nepali. Books of approximately 20 authors were read by the volunteers.

Professor Rekha Kumar adds that they wanted to ease the problems of the PWD students. Hence, they created the audio library which can be accessed anytime and is much convenient.
