Miranda House was recently ranked as the number 1 college by NIRF. The DU-affiliated Miranda House is performing incredibly well as it is ranked 1 for the fifth consecutive year. Hence, the students, as well as alumni of Miranda House, are elated and couldn’t express their joy. Eminent and famous alumni of this college took a trip down memory lane and reminisced their college days.

Urvashi Butalia, writer, publisher, and alma mater of Miranda House

Urvashi Butalia has all good things to say about her college, Miranda House. Also, she is not surprised that the college secured rank 1 yet again. Miranda House was open to students from all backgrounds with a range of subjects even in early 70s. But, several other women colleges lacked the advanced facilities present here. Also, this college was the first to join DUSU while other women colleges were still skeptical about it. Butalia highlights that Miranda is culturally very rich, especially in theatre and music.

The actor reminisces her days in the English Department of Miranda. Hence, she appreciated the wonderful subject and how well it was taught here. Also, she highlighted that she barely made it into the cut-offs list as they were high. As for her good old days, she loved going to college. The breath of freshness and freedom was everything a young adult aspired for.

She went to Miranda in the 1960s and has very fond college memories. Also, she asserts that due to a limited number of girls’ colleges, she didn’t have much of a choice. But, Miranda at that time had the best faculty and reputation as well. So, the cafeteria, the bunking, and spending time with the hostellers are all her cherished memories.
