Led by the Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, the Ministry of Education has come up with a 60 point action plan for revamping and transforming the school-based education and learning landscape in the country as outlined in the recently released National Education Policy (NEP 2020).
The 60 pointer action plan released by Ramesh Pokhriyal has been established by the Education Ministry to obtain the policy’s outcomes in force by the year 2022-23 academic session.
The Ministry of Education has assigned the National Testing Agency (NTA) to build up a committee which would study and examine all the entrance exams for admission to higher education.

Furthermore, the Education Ministry has authorized the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT) to take steps to curtail the burden of exams at all education levels by 2022-23 academic calendar. Under the agenda, bother NIOS and CBSE will also make an alteration to a system of conducting two kinds of exams, a subjective one and another objective one.
Moreover, the Ministry of Education has tasked has National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT) to formulate a three months play-based school preparation module for 1st standard students to make them ready for school education. NCERT has further been assigned with the duty of fine-tuning learning results for all classes, to halt the decline in education levels.
The Ministry of Education has come up with such decisions as an inclusion of the extensive 60 pointer action plan, the work on which is starting up with immediate effect.
The National Education Policy 2020 lays particular emphasis on the development of the creative potential of each individual. It is based on the principle that education must develop not only cognitive capacities -both the ‘foundational capacities ’of literacy and numeracy and ‘higher-order’ cognitive capacities, such as critical thinking and problem-solving – but also social, ethical, and emotional capacities and dispositions.
