The Executive Council of DU on Monday reflected on presenting a Master’s course in Public Health. They re-employed quiet academicians for research ideals, officials friendly with the topic said on Sunday.
The public health course, if authorized, undertook at the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW).
The varsity has formulated policies for the re-employment of “research-oriented academicians”. Post-retirement for five years on a contractual basis at the unit level, officials said.

DU VC Yogesh Singh comprised an appraisal committee to consider NIHFWs. It’s infrastructure, faculty, laboratories, and additional facilities, to begin the master’s course in Public Health. The committee offered its approval and proposed that the institute could commence the course with an intake of 20 students per year from the upcoming academic session.

The re-employment of a lecturer/senior professor is subject to the University’s approval. It concerns her/his conduct as a teacher, her/his disciplinary record, and economic diplomacy.
Vikas Gupta said that early the university’s proposal to submit the attachment with UGC guidelines. They aligned it with the New Education Policy’s intent of improving quality research. The re-employed professor will not keep any administrative role and will hold the position on a contract basis. The teacher is foreseen to teach, direct research groups, train UG, PG, and doctoral students, and mentor post-doctoral pals as per the guidelines. Teachers shall not stay in such re-employment after achieving the age of 70 years, the guidelines say. The existing retirement age is 65.
